Cabinet of Curiosities: release date, cast and trailer for horror series
Guillermo del Toro is serving up a Halloween treat.
Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro follows in the footsteps of his idol Alfred Hitchcock by hosting a new anthology series featuring eight self-contained tales of terror.
While the acclaimed talent, whose work includes Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water and Nightmare Alley, is stepping down from the director's chair for this project, instead enlisting a new creative team for each chilling instalment.
Among the filmmakers are rising stars Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Vincenzo Natali (Cube) and Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), while two episodes are based on stories by influential horror writer HP Lovecraft.
That's not to mention the cast, which includes a wide array of big name talent, including Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), F Murray Abraham (Moon Knight), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter) and Sofia Boutella (Modern Love).

Cabinet of Curiosities release date
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities premieres on Netflix on Tuesday 25th October 2022, but unlike most show's from the streamer, not all episodes will be available at once.
Instead, the first two episodes will be available on launch day, with two more dropping every day until Friday 28th October, for a grand total of eight creepy short stories.

Cabinet of Curiosities cast
It's a testament to del Toro's immaculate reputation in Hollywood that so many big name stars have flocked to Cabinet of Curiosities, with each episode having an entirely different cast.
Episode 1, titled Lot 36, stars Tim Blake Nelson (Captain America: New World Order), Sebastian Roché (Supernatural), Demetrius Grosse (Fear the Walking Dead) and Elpidia Carillo (Songbird).
David Hewlett (Stargate) is the only principal star of episode 2, while episode 3 enlists F Murray Abraham (Mythic Quest), Glynn Turman (Fargo) and Luke Roberts (The Batman).
Episode 4 sees Velma voice actor and The Big Bang Theory guest star Kate Micucci take centre stage, backed up by Dan Stevens (Gaslit) and Martin Starr (Spider-Man: No Way Home) in supporting roles.
Pickman's Model, the show's first Lovecraft adaptation, stars Ben Barnes (Shadow and Bone), Crispin Glover (American Gods) and Oriana Leman (Locke & Key).
The second Lovecraft tale, Dreams in the Witch House, has a larger ensemble, featuring Rupert Grint (Servant), Ismael Cruz Córdova (The Rings of Power), DJ Qualls (The Man in the High Castle), Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Tenika Davis (Jupiter's Legacy) and singer Gaby Moreno.
Trippy director Panos Cosmatos steps in for The Viewing, with a cast including Eric André (The Lion King), Peter Weller (RoboCop), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman), Charlyne Yi (The Mitchells vs The Machines), Michael Therriault (Chucky), Saad Siddiqui (Coroner) and Steve Agee (Peacemaker).
Finally, Essie Davis reunites with The Babadook director Jennifer Kent for The Murmuring, which also stars Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) and Hannah Galway (Under the Banner of Heaven).
Guillermo del Toro appears briefly at the beginning of each episode to introduce the story.
What is Cabinet of Curiosities about?
The official synopsis describes Cabinet of Curiosities as "a collection of unprecedented and genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror".
It continues: "From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original stories by del Toro) are brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro."
